For many women, there’s no time of life more confusing and isolating than the menopausal transition.

This includes perimenopause – the years leading up to menopause – which may transpire over a decade and present a dynamic cluster of experiences such as dramatic mood swings (eg anxiety), brain fog, hot flushes, broken sleep, fatigue, changes to body shape, hair and skin, muscle and joint pain, erratic cycles… The list goes on.

The good news is that this transition need not be so overwhelming. The earlier women empower themselves with knowledge and implement practical strategies to harmonise their nervous system and hormones, the better their experience of menopause is likely to be.

Naturopath Georgina Robertson, and mindfulness meditation teacher, Megan Spencer, are on mission to challenge the myths and mystery, and to support women, just like you, through this life stage.

That’s why they’re offering Pause. Breath. Thrive, a nourishing day retreat for women transitioning through menopause. Starting from solid foundations, and coming from a place of compassion, awareness and understanding, this is your opportunity to join Georgina and Megan in a tranquil bush setting for a day of nourishment, grounding, exploration and expansion.

Bringing together naturopathic discussions, nurturing fare and meditation and mindfulness activities, you will be gently guided, inspired and supported throughout the day.

The focus will be on nurturing your nervous system and helping you to build greater resilience, two cornerstones of a healthy menopausal transition. Not only will you walk away with helpful tips and handouts, but a sense of greater ease, as you navigate your own personal hormonal journey.

Included in your day retreat package are hormone-friendly herbal teas to drink plus healthy vegan, gluten-free catering for lunch and afternoon tea.

ABOUT THE TEACHERS

A desire to lead a more healthful, balanced and rewarding life personally drew Georgina Robertson to naturopathy, along with a deep love of nature and a strong belief in self-empowerment to make positive change.

With an emphasis on food as medicine, using healing extracts from plants and introducing beneficial lifestyle choices, she equips individuals with sound knowledge and practical, simple tools to progress their journeys towards greater health and wellness.

For eleven years Georgina has worked as a naturopath, both independently and alongside other practitioners, assisting men and women of all ages with varied conditions, acute and chronic in nature.

With a special interest in building resilience to stress and balancing hormones, Georgina particularly loves to work with thyroid, reproductive, adrenal and metabolic disorders, also enhancing mental health, sleep, digestion and immune regulation.

Her greatest passion right now is to support busy women (aged 35 to 55 +/-) to handle menopause with greater confidence and poise, so that they can achieve more and be fulfilled across all areas of their lives.

Georgina is a member of the Australian Traditional Medicine Society. She has a Bachelor of Health Science (Naturopathy) and her business is Earth to Essence Naturopathy. More at her Facebook page.

Megan Spencer is a trained mindfulness meditation teacher with a passion for self-care, creativity and empathy.

Having spent much of her working life in the hectic world of making media, Megan’s path toward slowing down and hitting the pause button came after a work-related health issue in 2009, caused by sustained stress.

She has been practicing meditation ever since and teaching it since 2015, first learning Mindfulness-Based Stillness Meditation at The Gawler Foundation in Victoria, then undertaking MBSM teacher training modules in 2011 and 2016.

Her subsequent and numerous mindfulness studies, courses, teacher-trainings and retreats (secular and Buddhist) have taken her around Australia and to Europe. These include Mindful Self-Compassion Teacher Training (Step I) and Breathworks Introductory Teacher Training (TTi). In 2020 she completed PD course Embodied Trauma-Informed Contemplative Teaching and in February 2021 she will undertake Breathworks Advanced Teacher Training (TTa).

Megan has taught meditation privately and publicly in a wide range of settings, including at The School of Life (Australia and Germany), Paypal Berlin and closer to home at Fleurieu Arthouse and in the Aldinga Arts Eco-Village in South Australia.  She teaches both online and in-person, from drop-in groups, sangha and workshops to courses, 1:1 custom programs and leading online meditations.

Megan’s teaching is personable, practical, professional and compassionate. Her personal practice has been a godsend with her own menopausal ‘journey’.

Megan is a registered member with the Meditation Association of Australia and a former board member (August 2019 – August 2020). Her business is Megan Spencer Meditation. Connect with her on Facebook.
